27 October 2026 — Daegu Haany University and the Korean Association for Policy Studies held a planning seminar on the enactment of the Cosmetics Industry Promotion Act and a new national strategy for K-Beauty, The Herald Business reported on 27 October. About 50 participants from universities, central and local government and the cosmetics industry attended the event at the Sejong National Arboretum.

The law and the discussion

In August, The Korea Times reported that Korea had passed a law intended to support the growth of its cosmetics industry. At the seminar, a researcher from the Korea Health Industry Development Institute gave the keynote on the law's significance, and a panel discussed policy tasks after implementation, industry responses and long-term competitiveness. Panellists included officials from the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Cosmetic Association.

What it means for shoppers

Industrial policy shapes research funding, export support and the regulatory environment for brands. It does not change the terms of an individual order or the labelling of a product already on sale. Safety information, ingredients and directions remain on each product's label and official listing.
