Department store, H&B shop or curated online store: where premium Korean beauty is sold
Korean beauty is sold through chain stores, department stores, flagships, duty-free and curated online shops. Match the channel to the product you want.
Compare products in this guide
Korea's beauty retail is not one shelf. Each channel is organised around a different kind of shopping, so the place you visit shapes which brands and price levels you see. If you are looking for something more considered than an everyday basket, it helps to know where each type of product tends to be presented.
Health-and-beauty chains
Chain stores offer a very wide range under one roof, frequent promotions and fast replenishment. They are excellent for comparing popular formats and testing shades, but their shelves favour products that sell in high volume across many stores.
Department stores
Department stores host the counters of prestige houses, offer consultations and increasingly run edit shops and pop-ups. Hyundai Department Store announced KOOD, a derma-beauty edit shop, in August 2026 for a September opening at its Pangyo branch, and its Sinchon branch is currently hosting emerging brands in a Beauty Festa. Expect more guidance and a calmer setting, often at higher prices.
Brand flagships and concept stores
Flagships let a brand show its full identity. In October 2026 the scent brand SENNOK opened a bathhouse-inspired store in Seongsu, and the perfume house Born To Standout announced a hanok flagship in Bukchon. Go for the experience, then note the exact product you liked.
Duty-free and curated online shops
Duty-free suits departing travellers who already know what they want. Curated online shops such as THE CAST present a smaller, explained selection with prices, sizes and video, and can deliver within Korea or abroad depending on the item.
A simple way to choose
- Testing many shades quickly: a large chain store
- A consultation or a prestige counter: a department store
- A brand's full story and limited items: its flagship
- A focused discovery you can compare and order at your own pace: a curated online shop
